Health Is Wealth

Health Is Wealth

‘Health is wealth,’ probably every one of us has heard this world-famous proverb many times concerning our health. This brings a lot of meaning to our lives because health is the most precious asset to everyone. Good health means we are free from diseases and have good physical, mental, social, and spiritual health. Being healthy is not a choice; it is the key to happiness.

Maintaining good health is associated with various factors such as the food we eat, physical fitness, mental state, emotional and psychological wellbeing etc. A healthy human is always more confident, friendly, and energetic. The views of a healthy person are clear and calm without prejudice.

We are living in an ultra-modern age. The Internet and technology have greatly shrunk the world, and people stay connected 24 hours a day, seven days a week. As we are striving to fulfil our responsibilities in our lives, multitasking has become the only choice. In this busy life, we even forget to save some time for ourselves. The stress continues to build until we fall sick seriously one-day. We realize that we had forgotten to take care of the most important element in all our day to day busy activities: our health.

Of all health types, physical and mental health is the most commonly discussed; they are associated with a person’s wellbeing. Achieving good physical health involves maintaining a healthy lifestyle and daily exercise. It is reaching the stage where our bodily functions are operating at their maximum performance.

The benefits of being physically fit includes:

  • Reduces the risk of heart problems.
  • It helps to manage your weight better.
  • Lowers blood cholesterol levels.
  • Lowers the risk of type 2 diabetes
  • Prevents certain types of cancers.
  • Reduces blood pressure.
  • Improves the strength of bones, muscles and joints
  • Reduces the risk of developing osteoporosis.
  • Extends to your life
  • Reducing stress and depression
  • It is quite tough to explain mental health compared to physical health, and it usually depends on a person’s perception of one’s own experience. This applies to a person’s emotional and psychological well-being as well.
  • Mental health is associated with a person’s temperament to enjoy life, find balance, adapt to situations, recover from adversity, and utilize their potential.

Many factors affect human health, including our environmental conditions, genetics, relationships, and sedentary lifestyle. According to statistics from the World Health Organization, people with higher socioeconomic status are expected to be healthier. Maybe it’s because they can afford good healthcare when they are at health risk. This possibility can happen in most cases, but we have to do our part in making certain lifestyle choices that support our physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing.

A healthy body and mind always help you enjoy life, no matter where you are from and who you are in society, what you have achieved, how much wealth you have.
